¿Who I am?
My name is Mariana Lares Michel, a Mexican born on May 20, 1994 in a small city 1 hour from Guadalajara: Ciudad Guzmán, Jalisco, or Zapotlán el Grande, as it is also known.
Since I was little, I have always been a nerdy girl, curious and passionate about what I do. I have known that nutrition has been my thing since I was in high school when I fell in love with the power that food has on our bodies.
However, later, my concern about food was greater, and I needed to understand where the food we eat comes from, what impact it has on the environment, and on our health, but at much deeper levels, for example, on the gut microbiota.
Throughout my career I have understood that although nutritionists have a wealth of knowledge in our areas, they are useless if we cannot ensure that people can follow our advice. That led me to study my master's degree and one of my doctorates in Eating Behavior.

So, today my line of research and applied nutrition is sustainable diets, and that's where the name I decided to give this website comes from: Sustainable Nutritionist. This is because I like that we see nutrition as a whole, as something that, in addition to helping our physical health, has the power to help our mental health and the health of the planet. But even more so, I believe that nutrition should always respect people's economy and culture, and we must recognize that eating is one of the greatest pleasures in life, and that obviously, we do not only eat out of hunger. So, understanding this, I firmly believe that I have the tools to help you.

Although nutrition is undoubtedly one of my greatest passions, I must tell you that I am not a conventional nutritionist, and I believe that food is to be enjoyed, so although I eat a lot of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and legumes every day, and I love them, it will catch your attention that I also love beer, desserts, fried food and I even like meat, so I perfectly understand what reducing its consumption means. So, just as I enjoy this type of food because I know how to balance it and do it intelligently, I want everyone to be able to do it. Another thing about me is that I love doing physical activity. I practiced Crossfit for 6 years, and one of the greatest pleasures in my life is hiking, going for a run, and right now I am discovering aerial fabric dance and the conventional gym. In general I love adventures! Finally, traveling is one of my greatest passions, and I try to do it in the most sustainable way possible.
